About the Convening
A gathering dedicated to expanding affirming care for transgender, gender nonconforming, nonbinary (TGNCNB), and LGBTQIA+ communities across New York.
This two-day convening brings together clinical providers, mental health professionals, supportive service organizations, community leaders, and key stakeholders who share a commitment to advancing equitable, affirming, and culturally responsive care.
With a statewide approach from the rural counties to the metro cities, we will foster connection and build collective strategies.
Why We’re Gathering
Uplift Innovative Practices: Highlight emerging models of affirming care and spotlight providers advancing impactful, community-centered approaches.
Share Community-Informed Strategies: Exchange practical tools and lessons grounded in lived experience and responsive to the needs of TGNCNB and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Address Systemic Barriers: Identify and strategize solutions to the structural challenges and disparities surfaced in statewide needs assessments.
About TWEF
Named after Lorena Borjas, a beloved Queens-based trans and Latina activist known for her selfless advocacy, the Transgender Wellness and Equity Fund (TWEF) was conceived out of a recognition that TGNCNBI individuals face the most severe forms of mistreatment yet are profoundly underserved.
